All three original games remastered with HD graphics and launching on September 21 for $40.
Back in the 90’s, the original PlayStation had many hit game releases, but when it came to platformers, two stood out from the crowd. One of the those was Crash Bandicoot and the other was Spyro the Dragon. Earlier this week, IGN received a mystery purple egg along with a purple card stating “Something’s about to hatch – Falcon McBob.” Now we know what is hatching thanks to a mistake by Amazon.
As AllGamesDelta reports, someone at Amazon Mexico screwed up late yesterday and allowed a listing for Spyro Reignited Trilogy to go live on the site. It has since been taken down.
The new PS4 game is scheduled for release on September 21 and brings together the original three Spyro the Dragon games in remastered form. Those games are Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage!, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. As well as updating the games with HD graphics, the listing points out there’s over 100 levels in total to play, but also that the game’s controls have been improved.
According to the box, the remaster was handled by developer Toys For Bob and published by Activision. Toys For Bob worked on a number of the Skylanders games, including Skylander: Spyro’s Adventure back in 2011. More recently, the studio has been working on the Nintendo Switch version of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, which saw a release on PS4 last year.
As you’d expect for one of these remastered trilogies, Reignited’s price is set at $40 rather than the more common $60 new game price. That’s sure to help make copies fly off the shelves for this much-loved series. When the first game was originally released back in 1998 it sold nearly five million copies worldwide.
