AR View, a feature that lets you see how different items will look in your home before you buy them, is launching today on Android devices that support ARCore.
Planning to buy some new furnishings for your abode? Amazon’s AR View, which launched on iOS in November, is now available on Android.
AR View lets you see how different items will look in your home before you buy them. So you don’t have to go through the hassle of trying to return a piece of furniture you purchased online that doesn’t quite work in your space. To see AR View in action, check out the video below.
“Customers can overlay furniture, devices, lamps, and more onto their existing living space and then move it and rotate it to get a full 360-degree peek in a live camera view to make sure it fits their style and aesthetic,” Amazon said in a statement.
Amazon first introduced AR View in November as a feature inside its iOS shopping app. Now, AR View is launching on Android devices that support ARCore. To use the feature on your Android device, you’ll first need to download the ARCore app from the Google Play store. From there, fire up the Amazon app on your phone, tap the camera icon in the search bar, and press “AR View” to try it out.
“Every product is sized and rendered so you know exactly how large it will be, and what it will look like,” Amazon said.
Some 15,000 “top home furnishing products” – including options for your living room, bedroom, kitchen, and home office – are available via AR View, Amazon said. You can also access this feature right on select product pages; look for the link that says “See how this product fits in your room” below the product’s image.
