Launched Thursday, the redesigned app lets you create a podcast with just your phone – no pricey, complicated audio equipment necessary.
Thinking about starting your own podcast? The newly redesigned Anchor app can help.
Originally launched as a social network for audio recordings, Anchor is now all about podcasts. “We heard time and time again that what creators truly wanted was to make a real podcast and have it heard everywhere people are listening,” the company wrote in a blog post.
Enter Anchor 3.0. Launched Thursday, the redesigned app lets you create a podcast with just your phone—no pricey, complicated audio equipment necessary. Just hold your phone up to your ear and start talking. You can record by yourself or with up 10 people, then add songs from Apple Music or Spotify as well as transitions and voice messages from listeners. Audio segments can be rearranged and older content can be added to new episodes.
When you’re done, you can publish your podcast to Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Overcast, Pocket Casts, Stitcher, and more with a single tap. Plus, Anchor today announced a partnership with Spotify, letting you distribute your podcasts there as well.
If you’re in need of some inspiration or entertainment, head over to the app’s redesigned listening section, which promises to make it easier to discover podcasts you might like.
Alongside the mobile app, Anchor introduced a new web dashboard with tools to help you create and manage your podcasts. The dashboard offers analytics, so you can see how your podcast is performing on various platforms. Plus, every user gets a landing page for their podcasts on the web. Send that URL to everyone you know, so they can easily find all your episodes in one place.
