Finding the perfect place to stay via Airbnb is about to get a little easier.
The company on Thursday introduced two new tiers – Plus and Beyond – as well as four new property types – Vacation Home, Unique Space, B&B, and Boutique – all of which promise to make it easier to find the type of travel accommodations you’re after.
Ever arrive at an Airbnb and realize it’s not as great as it appeared online? That shouldn’t be a problem with Airbnb Plus rentals. This new tier is reserved for homes that have been “inspected and verified in person against a 100+ point checklist covering cleanliness, comfort, and design,” Airbnb wrote in a news release. So far, 2,000 homes in 13 cities have been personally verified for quality and comfort.
“Airbnb Plus is intended for guests looking for beautiful homes, exceptional hosts and added peace of mind,” the company wrote.
The new ‘Beyond’ tier, as its name suggests, takes things a step further. Set to launch this spring, Beyond is aimed at travelers with deep pockets seeking luxury.
“Beyond by Airbnb will offer custom designed trips of a lifetime, including the world’s finest homes, custom experiences, and world-class hospitality,” Airbnb wrote.
Meanwhile, Airbnb currently organizes rentals into three categories: Shared Space, Private Room, and Entire Home. Starting this summer, there will be four new categories: Vacation Home, Unique Space, B&B, and Boutique.
“Over the years the types of properties on the platform have become increasingly diverse, from treehouses to boutique hotels,” Airbnb wrote. The addition of these new categories give guests more options while allowing hosts to be more transparent about their rentals, the company said.
Airbnb today also introduced a new feature called Collections, which will help you narrow lodging options based on the occasion. The company is launching this feature with Collections for families and those traveling for work. Later this year, the company plans to add Collections for social stays, weddings, honeymoons, group getaways, and dinner parties.
Finally, Airbnb today expanded its Superhost program to offer “14 new and updated benefits including better exposure, custom URLs, and exclusive benefits on smart home products.” For more information about that program, head here. Airbnb is also gearing up to launch a similar membership program for guests in the future that will offer “benefits across the entire trip.” The company plans to trial this new Superguest feature with 10,000 users this summer before rolling it out more broadly later this year.
