Real Madrid news: Man Utd one of THREE clubs enquiring about Luka Modric availability | Football | Sport

Modric has forged a successful career at the Bernabeu since moving from Tottenham for a fee in the region of £30million in 2012.

He has made over 200 appearances for Los Blancos and won La Liga, Copa del Rey and three Champions Leagues.

But game time has become limited as of late and he has been restricted to mainly substitute appearances.

United boss Jose Mourinho took Modric to the Bernabeu five years ago and has always been a keen admirer of the creative playmaker.

And if the opportunity arrises, he may wish to bring him to Old Trafford to partner Paul Pogba in the heart of the team.

The Croatia midfielder is reportedly unhappy with his lack of starts and has held a meeting with boss Zinedine Zidane to discuss his future, according to reports.

Spanish publication Don Balon suggest the two met and Modric voiced his frustration.

The report outlines that Modric, 32, is looking for one final big contact before his playing days are up.

He is currently finding himself behind Isco, Toni Kroos and Casemiro in the Madrid pecking order.

The three current midfielders have played majority of the season, despite Madrid having a poor start to the campaign.

They currently trail league-leaders Barcelona by eight points with only 11 games gone.

And they also sit second in the Champions league group – three points behind Tottenham.
