Padman: Akshay Kumar shares new movie stills, confirms release date

Mumbai: Akshay Kumar, who is all set to narrate the story of Arunachalam Muruganantham in his next- Padman, who laid emphasis on menstrual hygiene among women in rural India, will make a splash on the silverscreen on January 26, 2018.

The hunk of an actor took to Twitter to share a couple of photographs from the sets of the film which also stars Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor.

Akshay will be sharing screen space with Radhika for the first time in the film. In one of the pictures, we can Radhika holding a sanitary pad as she smiles for a pic with Akshay standing alongside.

Akshay captioned the image: “The REASON he became #PADMAN…find out on 26th January, 2018. @radhika_apte @PadManTheFilm @sonamakapoor @mrsfunnybones @SonyPicsIndia  @kriarj #RBalki (sic).”

In the other pic, we can see Akshay and Sonam on a bullock cart.

Check it out here: “The STRENGTH behind #PADMAN…find out on 26th January, 2018. @sonamakapoor @PadManTheFilm @radhika_apte @mrsfunnybones @SonyPicsIndia @kriarj #RBalki (sic).”

By sharing these movie stills with the release clearly mentioned in the caption, Akshay has confirmed that Padman will not be clashing with Rajinikanth’s 2.0, a film which also stars the Khiladi superstar. This establishes the fact that Padman will release first.

Padman marks Twinkle Khanna’s (Akshay’s wife) debut as a film producer. Interestingly, Twinkle had written about Padman aka Arunachalam in short story titled The Sanitary Man from A Scared Land in her second novel The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad.

Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan will make a special appearance in the film directed by R Balki, with whom he has teamed up for Cheeni Kum, Paa and Shamitabh in the past.
